Hilton Barnett has 19 years experience working in and with organisations across 7 countries. Much of this work has been in mining and related industry, but he has also worked in other sectors, including banking, government departments, educational and child welfare institutions and a range of small organisations, including non-profit work. His focus is on developing effective working relationships through productive leadership practices and systems, appropriate structure and positive culture. |

Hilton worked in the field of child psychology in Australia, the UK and South Africa, in a variety of institutional settings. His experience with these organisations developed his interest in improving the systems and structures through which services were being delivered and so he moved into working with organisations and management whilst employed with Anglo American in South Africa. Here he contributed as Human Resources Manager and also in leadership consulting, training and assessment. Hilton moved into full time consulting as part of Macdonald Associates, initially spending 2 years with Hamersley Iron and Palabora Mining (both of Rio Tinto). Since then he has worked in Australia with Comalco, Caltex, ERA, Argyle Diamonds and the Commonwealth Bank. In Southern Africa he has worked with Palabora Mining Company, Anglo American, Rössing Uranium, Richards Bay Minerals, Murowa Diamonds and Lonmin Platinum; as well as a number of smaller organisations and two government departments. He has also worked with Kaiser Aluminium in Ghana and the USA and with Vale INCO in Canada. Hilton provides leadership advice to schools and supports work with AIDS orphans in South Africa. This broad experience across different business and societal cultures has provided a good test of the leadership principles that we use at Advanced Dynamics.
