michelle

Michelle has been involved in education for over thirty years, working in a diverse range of schools in Australia, England, Papua New Guinea, Turkey and Thailand.

She has always been interested in experiential learning, believing that people learn as much, if not more, through opportunities for growth and development outside the classroom. Michelle has had particular interest and involvement in leadership development, cross-cultural education, aboriginal education, outdoor education, gifted education throughout her career. She is motivated in her consultancy work by what makes people feel inspired to use their full potential at work, happily and willingly giving of their best every day and what obstructs them from this level of endeavour.

For ten years, Michelle lived and worked at Kormilda College in Darwin, enjoying the challenge and rewards of teaching secondary Aboriginal students from many remote communities in the Northern Territory.

In 2001, Michelle became the Director of the Visiting Schools Program at the Prem Center for International Education, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In the five years she was in this role, Michelle led many leadership and teamwork courses for students and was involved in professional development programmes for staff from schools all over the world.

From August 2006, Michelle has been a full-time consultant with Macdonald Associates Consultancy, living in Singapore, and working with school staff and students in Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Bangla Desh, Malaysia, Switzerland, Australia and Nepal.  Her consultancy has also included work with some Rio Tinto mines, BHP Billiton and the Anglican church in Australia.
