Peter is co-founder and Managing Director of Advanced Dynamics. Prior to his time at Advanced Dynamics, Peter spent 20 years in the mining and smelting industries in a wide range of roles. His operations experience as a copper refinery manager and wider experience in diverse positions such as IT, business analysis and technical leadership roles has provided the practical backdrop to his interest in leadership and the organisational arrangements that are required for sustainable performance. This background has led to his major area of interest: applying a systemic approach to building the capability of organisations to achieve their long-term goals. His work with organisations in the public, private and “third” sectors in Australia and New Zealand has enabled him to work across sectors providing both breadth and depth of experience. Building on his previous strategic and operational experience, the last 12 years in Advanced Dynamics has focussed more on the strategic imperatives for the organisations with whom he works. |

In the private sector, Peter’s experience implementing systemic improvement projects covers the Mining, Financial Services and Telecommunications sectors. These projects have yielded improvements to long-term capability as reflected in measures such as sustained improvements in safety performance. The work usually involves enhancing the organisations ability to adapt itself to its environment through improvements to organisational roles and relationships, leadership development, executive coaching, and the redesign of key systems. In the public sector, Peter’s contribution has focussed on helping organisations to build senior management capability to tackle systemic issues both within the organisation and beyond to the industry sectors which they seek to influence. Work in this sector usually includes coaching support for Chief Executives as they tackle the challenge of improving whole of organisation performance. He has worked with agencies in sectors such as housing, conservation, economic development, state services, labour relations, foreign affairs, child protection and agriculture. This has led to a deep interest in the ways that the public sector is seeking to reform itself to be able to respond to increasingly complex global challenges. Peter’s experience in the not-for-profit sector has encompassed complex strategic issues in human rights, special interest volunteer organisations and research. This has included working with boards in their establishment, development and performance evaluation. Peter has Bachelor and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an accredited facilitator of the Leadership Development Framework and accredited facilitator of a number of leadership development tools. "At all times Peter and his project consultants were extremely conscious of their fiduciary responsibility to me and to my team as their client. Despite a relatively small team I was impressed at the scope of experience and capability"
